December

I would like to wish you all a very happy and safe Christmas holidays. The boys are ready for a little break from school after a busy Christmas build up. They were amazing in the show 'Santa's Hat'. We did so much practice and I am sure you were all very proud when you saw them perform as was I. We also had a visit from Santa to school which was so exciting. We had one of Santa's elves stay with us too and the boys caught him doing lots of silly things in the classroom! We did a festive fitness class with Gill in the Marian Hall, we had a Christmas jumper day and a Christmas pyjamas day. There was lots of Christmas excitment all month.

November

Ms O' Brien was with us for most of November on teaching practice and we really enjoyed her time in our room. We welcomed our parents in for a literacy workshop and this was great. Everyone really enjoyed this experience and I hope we can do another one again soon. We had Science week and we did some really cool experiments. We learned all about the doctor and had fun role playing at the surgery. We did an experiment to show how important it is to wash our hands with soap to ensure we get rid of all those germs! There was a very special opening of the new classroom and Ms Bailey's class.

We got some new board games in our room and we are learning how to play them and having some fun in the process. For Science week we did some experiments and using our STEAM kit resources we made some creations.

The Doctors

OCTOBER

What a busy October we had in Senior Infants! We learned all about the Fire Station and had a visit from one of the local firefighters to talk to us about fire safety. We also had a visit from Gardaí John and Chloe to talk about being safe during Halloween. We learned all about Autumn and went on an Autumn walk and collected leaves and conkers. We had our annual penalty shootout where we scored loads of goals! We had fun doing different maths activities during Maths Week. We did a skipping challenge with the rest of the school to see how far we could travel to! Each skip was a kilometer! Then it was time for Halloween and we did art, dressed up, had a visit from a magician (click to see the photos-we were all amazed!!!) It was time for a well deserved week off!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

We were so excited to see Johnny and David Ryan come to school with the LIAM MCCARTY cup! It was so cool!! We coloured Tipp flags and learned 'Slievenamon' for the boys! Johnny told us to keep playing and practicing and one day one of us might play with Tipperary and come back to school with a cup!

Welcome back to Senior Infants!! We have had a great first few weeks in school and the boys are all settled back in and ready for this year! Here are some photos of our first few days in school. Our first story was 'Goldilocks and The Three Bears' have a look at the different size chairs the boys made - the big one for Daddy Bear, medium for Mammy Bear and the small chair for Baby Bear!

Our SUMMER HOLIDAYS are here!! I hope all the boys have a fun, safe and happy holiday and looking forward to seeing them all again in September.

Pancake Tuesday

October Aistear - The Home

We were learning all about the home through Aistear this week. At the Construction area we used giant blocks to make a house and at the Art table we got creative using 2D shapes to create a house.

Fun with Jason

The boys had great fun practising their football skills today with Jason.

Ready, Set, Go, Maths

The boys have been busy sorting! We can sort objects into sets according to their colour, size and shape. We can order numbers too and have fun while doing so!

A Science Experiment

The boys had to make a waterproof roof for their Lego house. They had fun learning about the properties and characteristics of materials. The materials that they used were sticks, card, plastic, fabric and metal.

September Aistear - Myself

Our first Aistear theme was ‘Myself’. The boys were involved in pretend play at the tuff tray, washing and drying the baby and creating self portraits at the art station.
