This year for Active Schools Week we have a lot of fun activities planned! Our aim this year as an Active School is to involve the wider school community as much as possible through teacher set challenges on Seesaw, Facebook and our website we hope to get our families Active at Home! 😀
Day 1: Handball, Yoga & FMS Obstacle Course!
To mark the beginning of Active Schools Week Mr Whelan practice the skills of handball with all of the classes. Handball is a fantastic activity to develop hand-eye co-ordination and also requires a lot of movement to play.
Ms Bonar and Ms Greene then took Ms Ellard's and Mr Whelan's class for yoga after small break. All of the boys loved learning and practicing the different yoga poses.
All of our classes took part in an obstacle course organised by Mr Whelan, the obstacle course focused on the key fundamental movements of running, jumping and landing.
What a start to Active Schools Week, we cannot wait to see that the rest of the week brings! 😀

Day 3: Football with Richie
Active Schools Week Day 3 consisted of football with Richie from Arravale Rovers! We are extremely lucky to have Richie with us each week working on our Fundamental Movement Skills and GAA skills. Today the boys got to put all of their hard work working on these skills to practice in a full match among themselves. The boys had great fun! ⚽⚽
Day 4: Rugby with Jim & Yoga with Mr Keogh & Ms Greene!
Active Schools Week 2021 has been busy so far and today was no different! Although the elements were against us Jim Kissane from Clanwilliam FC played rugby with our boys in the hall. Jim has been coming to us for a number of weeks and we can already see a vast improvement in ball handling and movement with the ball. After break Mr Keogh took Mr Whelan's class to the hall for some yoga and Ms Greene took Ms Ellard's class. Yoga has been a massive hit this Active Schools Week! 🧘🏻♀️
Day 5: Raising our Active School Flag!
To conclude Active Schools Week 2021 we were joined by Tipperary Senior Footballer Brian Fox. Brian is a fantastic role model and athlete and we were delighted to have Brian raise our Active Schools Flag. Brian also presented Mrs Cleary's First Class with their trophy for winning St Michael's Fittest Classroom. We rounded off the day with ice-cream for everyone! A great day had by all which will live long in our memories.
